RAMCO Cements

Radar-Based People Detection System for Mining Dumpers

Problem

The lack of an efficient mechanism for identifying human presence near large machinery, including dumpers, caused serious safety problems for RAMCO Cements during their mining operations.

There was a higher chance of collisions and mishaps involving on-ground staff in the absence of a trustworthy detection system, which might have resulted in costly operating delays as well as possible injuries or fatalities.

One major difficulty has been maintaining high safety standards while guaranteeing continuous, effective operations in challenging mining conditions.

Process & Solution

Kavis IT designed and put into operation a reliable radar-based persons detection system specifically for the dumpers used in the mining operations of RAMCO Cements.

Deploying sophisticated radar sensors that could precisely detect people in real-time around moving heavy gear was the solution. The drivers of the vehicles receive quick notifications from these sensors, enabling them to take prompt action to prevent possible collisions.

The sensors were made to withstand the demanding and dusty mining environment, and their consistent and dependable performance strengthened on-site safety procedures.

Impact

Safety at all of RAMCO Cements' mining sites was greatly improved with the installation of the radar-based detection system.

It increased operator confidence, improved adherence to mining safety standards, and reduced the possibility of workplace accidents.

The solution enhanced overall operational efficiency and helped to create a safer, more secure working environment by proactively addressing the danger of human-machine interaction.
