Alstom Transports
Testing Track Centralized Monitoring & Safety Automation System

Problem
Because automating track systems that functioned under high voltage settings (25,000 KVA AC and 1,500 KVA DC) were complicated, Alstom Transports faced significant safety and operational efficiency difficulties in their testing location.
Staff found it challenging to efficiently monitor operations due to the lack of a centralized monitoring system and real-time visibility into power switch states.
Because power lines could not be promptly or reliably checked and notifications about changes in power status were either delayed or nonexistent, this posed serious threats to the workers in the testing zones.
For test activities to run smoothly and workplace safety to be guaranteed, a dependable, integrated, and real-time alarm system was essential.
Process & Solution
Through the integration of PLC SCADA systems with the high voltage power network throughout the testing tracks, Kavis IT created a reliable, centralized monitoring solution.
A single dashboard that displayed real-time status updates for every track, including the power status at the moment and comprehensive project-specific data, was a component of the solution.
A speaker announcement system, like those found at train stations, was constructed to provide real-time updates on power switch operations (on/off status) to further increase safety. This system made sure that all nearby personnel were instantly informed.
A thorough understanding of track conditions and power activity was made possible by this integration, facilitating quick decision-making and warning distribution.
Impact
The testing environment's operating openness and safety were significantly enhanced by the new technology. The chance of unintentional exposure to high voltage was greatly decreased since staff could now quickly check live power statuses and get auditory alerts.
This formerly disjointed and manual procedure was automated to improve safety standard compliance and expedite testing procedures.
Alstom's Plan Head gave the project excellent marks for its usefulness and crucial contribution to enhancing worker safety and testing efficiency on-site.
